And with these bright colours, one of the hottest trends for this season is the technique of Colour Blocking.
Essentially it’s putting blocks of solid color next to each other in an outfit.
The Spring 2011 Collection by Gucci I adore!
So to make a colour block outfit; take 2 to 3 bold colours and pair them together. And remember Combining Composite Colours work best.
Now Clothes, shoes, handbags and accessories can feature already colour blocked designs:

But to avoid looking like a Rubik’s cube- if your wearing an already colour blocked item, keep the rest of your outfit SIMPLE.
For those of you that are afraid of colour- Don’t be! Because you can Employ this technique to your advantage to hide any flaws and highlight your assets.
You can see in the Pic below that these curvaceous ladies are working it!
As we all know dark colours have a slimming effect, same thing applies when colour blocking. So what you can do is use a darker column of colour down the torso or wear open a lighter coloured cardigan or jacket.
Generally a colour-blocked outfit will work for you if you stick to the usual rules for your body shape, For Example;
If you are pear shaped, stick to wearing darker colors on your bottom half.
If you are apple shaped, avoid horizontal blocks of colour around your stomach and instead highlight legs with brightly coloured pants.
If you are an hourglass, you can color block around the waist to highlight your womanly figure.
Colour Blocking is a fabulous trend to flaunt this Season but make sure you stick to 4 colours max and keep accessories to a minimum!
Gone is the season of muted tones - Its time to paint the town in as many colors as you wish!
